Much of what seems so real in this physical dimension is not the entire Truth of who we are and/or what we can do. Over the last decade, I have allowed myself to both explore and expand beyond the physical, mental and emotional boundaries I thought were rigidly in place in this "reality". What I found was an aspect of Self that I had forgotten was there. I offer these wonderings and wanderings as an invitation to see beyond "what meets the eye", MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and "why can't I?" in your life! |

We are each here to be the light and the essence that only we can be. We are so interconnected, and each so important to the whole. Just as the one bulb can cause the others to remain unlit, the one replacement bulb enables the others to light. Just think for a moment about the ways that you have touched others' lives, both directly and indirectly.
If you go back in my blog, to September 2012, I had a unique opportunity to help a stranger in a very profound way (read more) and in the process I was also changed. In this example, I actually had the gift some months later of seeing proof that my interaction had helped that person. Many times, however, we don't know the impression we make on the world. As I think back to that interaction, I realize I don't know the full effect of my simple act of kindness, because this person to whom I was kind, undoubtedly went on to do acts of his own, which in turn affected others.
I think there's a Liberty Mutual commercial which graphically portrays how a circle of strangers positively affect one another's lives. It got me imagining a similar circle ... my husband donated blood the other day. Once he was finished with the donation, I'm sure he really didn't think about that blood further. But I imagined that pint making the difference and saving someone else's life. Then I took it a step further, imagining as that person was going home from the hospital, their spouse decided to drive slowly so the patient wasn't so jostled. And, in driving their car slowly, the driver of the car behind them was forced to drive more slowly. Now, that driver may have been irritated, but that few second delay prevented that detained driver from having a serious accident ... and on and on and on.
You get the idea. There are so many every day miracles and every day heros that go unnoticed and unrecognized. Think about this for a moment and realize what a miracle worker you are and how touched by miracles you have been. How just by smiling at a stranger or letting someone go ahead of you in a line of traffic, you could have changed a life. Or imagine how your life may have been saved myriad times without your even knowing it.
In today's world a string of Christmas lights can remain lit if one bulb is blown. Our society has gotten fast-paced, scattered, impersonal. Little reminders of the importance of community like the "old fashioned" Christmas lights have disappeared as has a lot of our face-to-face dialog and relying upon others you know in your own town. Don't be fooled! We are important to one another by design. It can be no other way. No matter how impersonal this world may seem, no matter how isolated and insignificant you may feel, you have and will continue to make a huge, untold difference in this world!
Now go out there and be the light that only you can be. You know how to do it perfectly just by being you.
