Don't Pass Along Your Pain; Forgiving the Bully

Until we have peace, we will have pain. Consider any time you have lashed out at someone, or they have been mean to you. Pain was the likely catalyst, pain pushed outward (albeit unconsciously). That pain was given to another (hot potato!), and on and on! It's the opposite of "paying it forward" within our families, our companies, our communities, our world.

People who hurt others are typically in emotional or physical pain themselves. They may not be consciously TRYING to be mean or even understanding that there is a choice to behave otherwise. They do not have the tools, freedom, maturity, or perhaps the skills to even process, let alone heal their internal pain. They have no idea where their anger, depression, anxiety is rooted. It just IS. 

Understanding what we are passing along as generational or cultural pain is important. We are here to change the script! Awareness = The Power of Choice = The Power to Change!

In writing for UNMUTED VOICES, a collaborative book project in the works, I've revisited many long-forgotten memories of grade school. My personal school bully stepped forward as an illustration for this blog.

Asking For What You Want and Need is Healthy

Generations, cultures, peoples who deny their children's needs do not create stronger adults.

This is not at all about blame. "Parenthood doesn't come with a manual" and some of those parenting guides of the 20th Century and before were not heart-based. I remember repeatedly hearing "spare the rod, spoil the child." Other "experts" told new parents to let the baby cry itself to sleep.

As adults, we either continue what we have learned, or we see what didn't work for us and we change! I am grateful that some of us have said, "that's not how I choose to parent. I'm going to respond to my baby when she cries and when she's hungry. I'm going to be a loving, supportive part of my child's life. My child's childhood is going to be a treasured time of innocence." 

I grew up without a voice and without choices. When my husband would take me on dates, early in our relationship (I was 18), I would feel so conflicted over my food choice(s). If I selected the shrimp entrée would it taste $2 better than a similar offering with chicken? A decade and a half later, we parented with a goal that our children knew how to assess their choices and even suggest alternatives.  E.g., "You cannot go to school in your flip flops because they don't protect your feet; but you can wear your sneakers, rain boots, dress shoes, etc. Seeing choices empowers change, growth, freedom!

I believe that we change the world through the only one we have control to change ... ourSELVES. Each one! We do not rise above our pasts when we repeat the obsolete programs and energies of dysfunction as parents of our own children.

Yet, we can bring harmony, backward and forward, when we provide a loving home/vibe for not only our children, but firstly WITHIN ourSELVES. We heal through love, but we can actually go a bit overboard when we aren't watching our energy. It's not too late; for many of us, this is a new thing. It's a GOOD THING to gain awareness of!

Taking a Stance AS and THROUGH LOVE

A beautiful teaching is found in the Native American Tale of the Two Wolves.

Until you see the whole picture you cannot see the whole picture. We literally cannot stand in the exact same place as another person, so we will never see from exactly the same perspective. 

Love and empathy will create positive change in our world; hate, aggression, fear just continue the cycles we are here to transform. We cannot force someone else to open their eyes to compassion and love by bombarding them with hate and condemnation. Sometimes our focus on what that other person is doing is just our own ego's way of avoiding OUR "inner work". We get so focused on "the crusade" that we forget the love that was in our hearts at its start. 

History will repeat itself until we find a different way to respond and treat one another.

As eternal souls, consciousness, energy having a human experience on this beautiful planet, we hold and have access to infinite Knowledge. Through visions, messages, and healing deep-dives, God/Source/Spirit/The Universe has shown me a well-spring of timeless wisdom. 

I  know that as mere, even fragile newborns, we were aware of so much and yet unable to express it except as LOVE. Perhaps a soul-level recognition of this wisdom and Truths is an aspect of the somewhat universal appeal of babies!

Yet as individuals, we rush forward! We grow bigger, eagerly aiming for adulthood. We long to grow up; happily abandoning wonder, glee, non-physical "realities" we are told are "not real". We happily conform to expectations and limitations placed upon us, agreeing to live, express, embody a smaller and smaller essence of Truth and our soul signatures. We become more and more disconnected within to Truth, Love, Higher Guidance.

And yet, we came to bring and live Truth! We can to be this ONE that only we can be! This is why much of my work and self-expansion focuses on Inner Child Healing and Reconnection.

Change is at Hand ~ BE LOVE

Spirit shares "Change is at hand." Often change scares us; our primal selves may wish to carry a big club, When this happens, we have stepped back from our power and into fear. That was THEN, this is NOW. We are directing the change! 

It's so important to shift your fear to empowerment! More winners is always better than one, despite what we have been groomed to beLIEve.

It’s natural for us to focus on money because so much of our physical world is valued and driven by money. Yet, money is only one aspect of prosperity.

11-11-2021 Endings Are Amplifiyng Beginnings ... Batter Up!

As we approach 11/11/21, there are many awarenesses presenting to me. There is definitely an over-arching theme and calling for an awareness of our stance and use of the male and female energies within our being. Many times, Spirit vision/messages/analogies "speaks to me" through the Divine Feminine.

This message and sports analogy feels markedly different and yet so yummy! It was exactly what I needed, what my client needed, and, I can only imagine, what many others of us need.

As we look at all the 1's in this date, it doesn't take a master to appreciate this is about beginnings. When we compare it to this date in 2011, we may feel it's a sort of do-over of the energies that were presenting. If we add the digits of 11/11/2021 we get "9" which is also about endings. But this is more of an amplification and also an urging for quantum leaps! 

We are nearly 10 years into the RE-emergence of the Divine Feminine energies, benched or side-lined from our civilization for so many years. With each light that awakens within humanity, male and female energies are coming more into balance and manifesting here in our physicality.

 Hey, you're up to bat!

Shifting Dimensions, Open & Closed Doorways ~ It's like Hogwarts' Sorting Hat!

It is said that as one door closes another opens. As shown in this visual doorway message from about four years ago (left side), I've certainly encouraged myself and others to look at the CLOSED DOOR, as an invitation to BE and DO more. Spirit/Higher Guidance and experiences of late are showing me that in duality, there is always a yin-yang balance with every thing. So, we must see and assess both sides of the situation; lest we get stuck in limbo!

This is not to say we should focus on extremes. We as a civilization have been doing that for eons, and it hasn't created Humanity's sweet spot. When we focus on only black/white, good/bad, right/wrong, we miss the rainbow that lies at the heart of that spectrum.

I'm sharing this OTHER PERSPECTIVE of the CLOSED DOOR, with the hope that it will illuminate more possibilities FOR and WITHIN YOU. On the left, there is actually an invitation to step up and forward. Yet in some cases, particularly in our relationships, we never had nor will have the right key to be able to enter and find the peace or love we seek. Sometimes the "other person" is barring our way because our needs and wants do not align!

When the Earth rumbles, most people panic

Many call these “crazy times”, and things are surely changing. But when we look at nature and other creatures on our planet, there is peace. They “know” that all is well. Things ARE changing. A tiny virus has shown us that we are a world without borders and what happens on the other side of the world DOES matter. We are connected. We all matter!

Things that have been hidden from view (and/or that we have consciously and unconsciously avoided seeing) are coming to our attention. We must look, not with scorn or finger-pointing, but with compassion for ourselves and "the other".

Sometimes, on the surface, things look bad, dire even. This IS and has always been true. Moreover, we will see what we look for and expect. The more narrow our expectations, the less we see what’s in opposition to those expectations, and that further reinforces our beLIEf in what we will see!

Our mindset is much more important than we have been taught. What we experience, our "reality," is interwoven with our expectations, perceptions, choices, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, etc.

Happiness is always a choice within reach. As we see(ze) small choices, we can expand and grow to become more powerful and self-masterful. Perhaps we are only afraid of the dark because we have forgotten or become somewhat separated from OUR LIGHT!?!

Imagine yourself, walking through a forest during the day. You see and hear birds and little creatures living their lives ... seeking food, sunlight, shelter. Perhaps you feel a kinship or peace within nature and you feel so alive "in nature".

As the sun begins to set, beautiful shafts of light make their way toward you. You notice that golden hue and accept the sun's "goodnight" kiss.

7 Tips for Building a Strong Marriage

While it’s an accomplishment to achieve a long marriage, there are more measures of success than years alone. My husband, Joe, and I have been married for 40 years, 39 of those years blissfully. Statistics show that many marriages end in the early years, and we most certainly could have been among those as I nearly self-sabotaged this relationship in our fifth year of marriage (more on that later).

Perhaps you’ve heard that 50% of all marriages end in divorce? This statistic was true in 1980 (the year we married) but, since that time, the divorce rate has been on the decline. You’ll find many updated statistics online (interestingly they are largely served up by divorce attorneys). Philip N. Cohen, a sociologist at the University of Maryland College Park, notes that from 2008 to 2018 divorce rates among women fell by 18%. (1)

Chaos Creates Expansion and Room for Reorganization and Balance

There is expansion, symmetry, balance, love, light even amid what some might call "chaos" or "a crisis". There is no need to "rush in to fix things"! Our first reaction will likely not come from a place of love; we may respond with fear and finger pointing.

But we are each/all co-creating what we see, what we experience, what we feel! We cannot change that creation until we see all of its sides in 3D. We have to understand that what benefits only a few, likely hurts many. If, individually, we want a world that is better for us, we have to create a world that is better for all.

Love thy neighbor as you love thyself because when we hurt another, we ultimately hurt ourselves, We may not see that in this moment, but it will follow us through all time/space ... in Time all Truths will be Known.

Finding Peace Through the Ebb and Flow of Life

I sat down in dawn’s early light to make notes for the attached video from my FB Live Wellness Moment. As the sun came through the window, this beautiful rainbow illuminated my note pad. I took it as a sign of LOVE, assurance, trust, gratitude … peace.

Life/nature shares signs of positivity. How often do we miss these light-filled signs?

All Is Well

For much of my adult life, I missed life’s signs that All Is Well. I based my happiness upon what the media was telling me, what I perceived to be the rejection/acceptance of me by others, how busy I was … heck, even based upon whether the sun was shining or it was raining.

Eventually, I started to see the balance of life. I opened my awareness to rain’s gifts upon all life in our world. Now, when I initially perceive a negative situation, my Higher Knowing moves me to seek out and find the gift. This is a huge win-win strategy for finding peace and understanding that in each moment All Is Well!

There are many times in our lives when situations seem to change beyond our control or even beyond our worst imagining. We may experience this as (1) the loss of a friend, family member, lover, (2) being passed over for a promotion, living arrangement, deeper relationship, (3) having a physical accident and injury, or (4) getting very ill mentally or physically.

Human nature and prevailing Western culture whines "why did this happened TO ME?" Yet our expanded awareness shows us that "this may actually be happening FOR ME!" How can loss and rejection of those we love, jobs that support us, living arrangements that seem to be working be happening FOR YOU, you may ask?

Perhaps rather than being comfortable and safe, or perhaps because of that, these placid life circumstances may not actually be serving your strengths, your higher quest for soul growth, your ability to touch others' lives, your evolution toward unconditional love!

As the snake sheds its skin, we can shed what is holding us back
from embodying love, light, compassion, hope, faith, trust!

It is prudent to follow safe hygiene guidelines, but it's best to do so without fear. Fear is an anti-building block within own auto-immune systems, within our relationships and within our world! Rather than lament cancellation of plans, events, even work, take this time for self-reflection, healing, and evolution beyond fear.

Reflect on where you are/have been living, emotionally and vibrationally.

Life's Transitions, Empowering YOU!

Often inner strife is due to reality being far removed from what we wanted to happen or thought would happen ... the friendship you thought would be everlasting, a league of friends you vibe with, the optimal job of your dreams, a living arrangement that seemed like "the perfect fit". Why do we experience endings?

If you're like me, when you have a "good thing" you want it to last. This may rarely happen in the "real world". These transitions make sense when we understand that we EACH are on a journey of growth and expansion. Our evolution may be incompatible with our quest for stability and/or longevity of engagement with a person, place or situation.

When Grief Arrives during the Holidays

For some people, “losing a loved one” can put the brakes on living life and cloud the holidays with sadness. But what if that person has stepped aside FOR us to help us shift to another timeline, to find our inner strength, to grow?!? What if our being stuck is also holding THEM back? What if they are not LOST?

Death of the physical body is only “the end” if WE close that door to our continued connection.

Many times the past can bring clarity to what's happening now. Our decisions, even those made unconsciously, affect our path, our outlook, and even our physical wellness. This is especially true if we are carrying "junk in the trunk" or otherwise lugging an emotional backpack behind us!

If you are struggling with physical illness, particularly one which doctors and tests cannot explain, I invite you to look beyond the symptoms, look beyond our body because you are so much more than that! You are a composite of genetics, nature, nurture, mind, emotions, spirit, and ENERGY!

We have many CHAKRAS in our bodies; this energetic and spiritual system is part of the subtle, non-visible dimensions that run our bodies. The chakras are energy centers (in some ways similar to the meridians used in acupuncture). I personally "see" the chakras as a type of snap system ... how we, as spiritual beings/thought/consciousness, connect in with our physical bodies.

When these juncture points become blocked, the flow of life force energy within the body is hindered. Chakra clearing and balancing is an important part of maintaining and/or improving your health. A healing session focused on the chakras can provide emotional healing and release blocks within the body's natural healing mechanisms. How to Set Realistic Expectations

Are Realistic Expectations Even Possible?

Yes, but to some extent, expectations may turn us away from joy and connection! The more we release expectation within ourselves, our relationships, and “what comes next,” the more we feel balance and calm within.

We “suddenly” see choices to be happy that didn’t seem to be present before because WE weren’t present! The more we find inner peace, the more peace we create within our world!

Autoimmune Disease ~ A Holistic Approach to Health

Here on Earth and perhaps throughout our universe, energy always precedes physical creation! Someone gets an idea for a new product or structure, they create a plan, they find resources for manufacture or fabrication, and a product or structure is born.

Similarly, within our bodies, there is an interplay of mind-spirit-emotions that impacts the physical body. Illness is not “all in our heads,” but our thoughts and emotions DO affect our bodies.

I have witnessed how our beliefs, attitudes, and even the way we talk to ourselves can affect and hinder the body’s innate healing intelligence. Fortunately, healing is nearly always possible!

Where Does Forgiveness Come From?

Forgiveness reigns within the heart. It's not something we have to create, it's already there. We all have hearts, so forgiveness should be easy. Why is it so hard for many of us to forgive?

As children, we knew how to forgive and live from our heart space. Perhaps at some point it became too painful? Or, maybe once we got into a “mainstream school system” we learned to focus on the mind more than the heart?

I believe we experience more pain in this head-space, living separated from our heart-based selves. We tend to push pain out, away from ourselves. This is how we hurt one another. It is a cycle that can create a disparity between truth and Truth.

Healing through Integrative Energy Medicine: Balancing Mind Body Spirit Emotions

We Have Incredible Self-Healing Bodies:

For many, the system seems to have gone awry. Many people are healthy yet don’t feel well. Others “have everything” but feel empty, sad, lost. Cutting out body parts or ingesting chemicals with myriad side effects has become the norm in our medical system. While we have gained relief from infectious disease, in many cases, we have lost the intimacy of healthcare which sees and addresses the whole person in an integrative approach.

What’s Your Dis-Ease Telling You?

Multidimensional or integrative healing (mind-body-spirit emotions), is largely experiential and unique for each person. In 1976, Louise Hay thoroughly documented associations between dis-ease and ailments of specific body parts. “Heal Your Body … The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Metaphysical Way to Overcome Them” was an invaluable tool for me as a new practitioner.

Release that which no longer serves you through individual and group healing sessions. As an integrative quantum healer, I know that fear, anger, hatred, regret, grief, and victimhood create an environment which restricts the human body\’s natural abilities to self-regulate and self-heal. Essentially, this internal dis-ease can eventually translate to physical disease. The great “news” is that when the root of dis-ease is removed when the client is able to release emotional stories that are based in illusion when love replaces its “denser counterparts,” the body seeks and more easily attains balance, perfection, health, wellness, and joy.

What’s Got You Stuck?

One of my first client healing sessions in 2013 was with a friend who had shoulder pain and immobility. He’d been told that nothing could be done for him short of surgery. He knew of my services and figured he had “nothing to lose.” When I touched his shoulder, I became aware of his angry and hostile feelings toward his father. It was almost literally stuffed full of unprocessed rage and anger.

His session focused on seeing these feelings from his current adult view and not that of the child who was powerless. He experienced an amazing release of toxic emotions and “energy blocks.” His body responded immediately. He left the session more flexible and pain-free. More than five years later, he has no issues with his shoulder.

In the Presence of Love

For many of us, peace is a dream. There are so many things that bother us, whether it's news of world happenings, things happening in our town, strife at work or home, and/or inner turmoil. We cannot change things external to us, until we have changed within. Otherwise we actually increase our lack of peace and resistance ... Awareness = The Power of Choice = The Power to Change!

I invite you to accept, for ever increasing moments each time you think of it, that the core of your essence is Love. From this understanding, we find the root back to love is within. It is not outside of you!

Raising the Bar As We Shift

Have you heard about "The Shift"? I've been reading about the current lunar phases and hearing others say how intense the energies are. (We are affected by energies within our bodies, energies from our Earth, energies from our Moon, energies from the Sun, energies from our Galaxy, energies from beyond our Universe ... and so on.)

A Shift in Consciousness

Status quo does not yield change; conflict brings change. Many of those currently in the political arena (who society may deem as inappropriate) may actually be serving humanity and a massive consciousness Shift at this time. They are giving a voice and face to darkness, anger, judgment, disparity, self-servitude ... raising it from an unspoken undercurrent to a place in which it can be assessed by our public and personal consciousness.

When we are triggered, it's likely that heavy emotion is seeded in a long-ago story, written in illusion, not Truth. Something this "other" has said or done has poked us like a pin in a spot where we are holding that same vibration. If things make you angry, sad, etc., ask yourself "why?" "Where is this coming from?" "How do I walk through the world in this way?" "Is it a present behavior/belief?" "Is it an old behavior/belief I've not forgiven within myself?" See how you walk through the world similarly to this person and change.

Love Never Dies!

My client Elizabeth had to make the tough decision to let go of her sick 14-year-old border collie Sadie on Saturday night. We worked together in person this morning, clearing heavy emotions and finding guidance on what comes next.

Eagle Messages ~ Don't be Deterred, Observe, Seize Your Opportunities

Yesterday I saw a small bird chasing a juvenile eagle. They passed directly overhead ... bird squawking and flapping violently as the eagle flew faster with little effort. This morning I saw a crow chasing an adult eagle. The eagle flew to and perched in a nearby pine tree, the crow landing somewhat higher on the same tree. The crow left after a few minutes. The eagle stayed, and stayed, and stayed. I wanted to watch him fly; I waited a long time. Eventually, he took off, flying approximately 200 feet to catch a fish in the water in front of me.

Messages began to come in for me/you/Us. As I pondered the small birds chasing the larger birds, I was reminded of life's distractions and how sometimes we can be steered off course without even realizing where we went astray. Small things, over which we ultimately have total control, can derail us. Why? Perhaps because we underestimate ourSelves. We believe they CAN DERAIL US so they do!

How Does Energy Healing Help Physical Pain and Disease?

How can Healing Resonance with Kristi Borst positively affect/heal physical ailments and mental turmoil presenting in another person, situated halfway around the globe? What are Physical Illnesses or Pains Telling You About Your Emotions, Life Traumas, Fears?

We see ourselves largely as our bodies. Yet, I believe in many cases, the body is not the source of our dis-ease. Non-physical aspects of Self contribute to and detract from our wellness. This is why periodic "energy work" is beneficial! I help others understand what they are telling their bodies and what their bodies are telling them. Awareness = The Power of Choice = The Power to Change!

In offering group and individual mind-body-spirit-emotions healing sessions, I have been startled by the sometimes literal under-emotions presenting as pain and dis-ease in my clients: for example, the jilted man who has "hardened his heart" and had a mild heart attack; the woman who is afraid to move forward fully into adulthood who is experiencing ankle problems; the woman raised to "keep your mouth shut" who suffered a persistent cough; the 20-something told to deny an incestuous rape experience whose spine had twisted under that lie. It's a kind of "chicken and egg" scenario. 

 

Fortunately, once the non-physical component (energetic, spiritual, emotional) is released, the body is "free" to do what it was designed to do best ... Self Heal! These denser energies & emotions present as pain and/or immobility. Other clients have stored traumas and lack of power (particularly from childhood) in various body part. We must realize that un-ease, repressed trauma, and unprocessed emotions stored in bodily organs creates "rich soil" for disease!

These individuals (and many others) experienced "miraculous" shifts toward wellness & joy with our session work, releasing their emotional trauma and reconnecting to their inner peace. When spiritual, emotional and/or energetic blocks are released, our life force is free to flow with greater ease in, of, and through the physical form. Even those who have lived without major trauma, have found a lightness and greater sense of Presence with periodic Perspective Reboot^® energy healing and body work.

How Far Would You Travel For Inner Peace?

This image came to me around this time in 2013, and I used it as my end-of-year facebook cover image. It's a play on the long-forgotten rear-view mirror statement "Objects Are Closer Than They May Appear." When we apply this spacial warning to our lives, it reflects a great untruth within our "reality". Why do we not see the closeness of our Inner Peace? Why must we struggle? When will we be happy? How can we thrive? A deepening of this visual has come through in recent days.

Some Say "Plateau", I Say "Scenic Overlook"

We are well-aware of the negative connotations of "plateauing" when we're on a quest toward a goal. Something has happened and the formula we've been using is no longer yielding the results we are seeking. For some of us, the plateau becomes the destination, as we abandon or original goal or fall into some crevice of "I am not worthy". I am shown this is not the purpose of the plateau!

New Earth

We live in an amazing time in which we may much more clearly observe and affect our path. We can uncover and heal patterns, behaviors, emotions, "stories" that have challenged us in untold numbers of realities. A key tool OR hindrance here is our Free Will. In nearly every moment, we are making a choice; for eons those choices have been unconscious, likely ruled by urges with no consciousness of the choices.

Yet the more we realize what we are deciding, the more choices we see ...

Chasing a Song, Yet There's a Song Bird in Hand?

I have seen more than one client in relationship or career paralysis because they think, if they are not happy with their current situation, their only option is to leave and to start over. Our society has encouraged us to seek that brass ring ... bigger, better, more. But will that really bring you happiness? Or is that a just painful illusion?

Healing ... an Inside Out Job

It is somewhat surprising to me that I haven't written any articles to date that mention "healing" in the title. I have been largely focused on writing pieces that help others more clearly see themselves. Yet over the last year through the lessons I have personally bumped up against, I have learned that we cannot show someone something they are not ready to see. Jumping this up a level ... You cannot unleash your own unlimited potential until you realize, at least on some level, that you are the one blocking its emergence.

What Are You Resisting?

It is in those moments that we resist "what is", that we feel pain. Sometimes these very things we resist are present is our life as our best teachers. Take a moment today and look for and at the things you are resisting. Perhaps it's the way another perceives you? Perhaps it's that something is not going "quite to plan" in your life? What's that thing that's "keeping you from being happy"? Perhaps in truth, it's you that's keeping yourself from being happy. Choose where you live, my friend!

If Your Go-To Reaction Is "I Can't" or "I Have Never Been Able To", Where is The Space for Potential?

About eight months ago, I sought out and scheduled some self care ... a 1.5 to 2 hour session with a woman who offers "guidance toward greater soul mastery". This type of guidance (I like to call it providing a "soul window") is an integral part of what I offer others in healing sessions, but answers were not coming clearly to me for me.

I hoped to get insights about how my gifts and healing offerings could be better communicated. I felt I was swimming against the current, offering something life-changing yet which seemed invisible to many who seemed solely focused on drugs and invasive techniques. I was also processing my own sadness and feelings of rejection in the face of coming forward with my abilities. I was seeking support, guidance and understanding.

I Have Faith!

 

BE in that space of FA I T H in which all is well. Surrender unto it. BE. In doing so, you help lift not only yours but also the consciousness and vibration of the whole.

No Time, No Room, No Need for the Pain!

The central theme of “Haven’t Got Time for the Pain” co-authored and sung by Carly Simon seems fitting as the synopsis of this sharing, clearing message. Wow. I loved that song when I was a sad and lonely teenager. I dreamed of that day when someone would love me to the depth that I wouldn’t have time for the pain. As with most things that bring us true freedom, it is an inside job!

Why do we have time for the pain? Why do we hold space for the pain?

In 2010, after 25 years as a sole proprietor of my one-woman ad agency, I started to wonder if this career was what I wanted to do for the rest of my adult life. I felt there was something more, something I needed to do, something more fulfilling. Yet I had no clue what that something was.

So, instead of focusing on the details (what, when, how) I focused on the feeling. I knew I wanted to help people. This had always been at the core of all of my work. I focused on how I would feel when I was helping others. At that time, I knew nothing of the Laws of Attraction and/or manifesting.

Moving Forward Knowing We Shall Rise Above

Many times when we encounter struggles, we are actually moving forward to bigger, better, happier ... but in order to arrive at that destination, we must keep on keepin' on!

Fears, hurts, regrets, even loved ones can tend to paralyze us within the struggle. We feel so terrible we may believe we cannot continue.

Will We Ever See Eye To Eye?

This is one of my favorite photos that my sister-in-law captured at Joe's and my wedding in 1980. It captured a magical quality which was surely present that day. What it doesn't show you is that when I said "I do" I didn't believe that our marriage would last forever.

While I told myself I believed in happy endings, deep inside there was a wounded girl who did not; she believed the fairy tale would end. Somewhere from childhood to adulthood, she'd abandoned her dream of having two daughters.

Our love was solid, real, nurturing ... the best thing to ever happen to me! We renewed our marriage vows on our 10th anniversary and started our family two years later. We've been in a nurturing/harmonious marriage for nearly 36 years now, together 40 years this-coming September.

Spirit spoke to me when I met this man "he's The One", and fortunately neither of us (more specifically me) sabotaged that calling.

Facing Our Fears Is the Doorway to Greatness!

This-past Sunday as I was driving to Palm Sunday service, I received "Facing our fears is the doorway to greatness. Your fears are the key to unlock the next greater version of you." Then at service, the opening prayer included this passage from "Gethsemane" by Rev. Ed Townley.

"We may sometimes feel locked in spiritual paralysis, afraid of the unknown—and even afraid of our fear! But the fear is really a sign that we are feeling guided to step beyond our comfort zone. The choice is always between the anxiety in mortal mind and the loving certainty of spiritual Truth. When we choose to follow our Truth, we dissolve the paralysis and step forward with confidence and love." I knew this message needed to be shared!

Allowing and Trusting the Ebb and Flow of Life ...

There's a definite ebb and flow to life. As I look out my window and see the snow that makes me want to stay inside, I think about how little time I spend indoors in the summer. Summer, I think, may be a time for us to expand, express, expend our light, reach and energy. 

Winter is a time for going within, seeing where we are going and assessing what shifts we may need to get on track. It's probably not coincidence that our New Year reflections also happen during this introspective period (I can almost hear the Snow Birds saying, I don't have to stay inside.) Perhaps it's really important for us to have the ebb and flow ... to take the time to renew our goals, our vision of ourselves, our vision of the world we are co-creating. To be with Self, to cozy our nest, to dream our dreams so we know where we are going to plant our seeds.
